Woody Woodburn Honored with middle school gym name

On Monday, Nov. 25, the North Hills Middle School gymnasium will be named in honor of beloved teacher, coach and mentor Morrow "Woody" Woodburn, the North Hills school district reported today.

A long standing and much beloved teacher, Woodburn was a sixth-grade teacher at West View Elementary School and taught in the district for 40 years. He was also the ninth-grade boys’ basketball coach for 32 years and the Master of Ceremonies and Supporter of the North Hills Band Festival for numerous years, the North Hills school distrct reported.

Woodburn was inducted into the North Hills Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 and passed away in December 2018.

According to the North Hills school district, The gymnasium dedication will begin at 6:15 p.m. prior to the Winter Sports Community Pep Rally which will begin at 7 p.m. in the middle school annex gym.
